Key moves position insurer for further growth in Mountain and Southwest regions
Englewood, CO - January 8, 2007
Colorado Casualty, a member of Liberty Mutual Group, heads into its second quarter century of providing superior insurance products and services with an eye towards further expansion.
Colorado Casualty President and Chief Executive Officer Don Frette credited the 140 employees and more than 100 appointed agents in attendance at the organization’s 25th anniversary celebration recently for the strong position Colorado Casualty holds in its home state and the progress being made throughout its six state territory.
“There’s a sense of genuine pride among all of our people. With our 25th anniversary as a benchmark, we are coming off three strong and consistent years,” said Frette. “Since 2003, our direct written premium has grown by over $40 million and the majority of this growth has been organic, which reflects our commitment to agency development and the strength of these ongoing relationships.”
With a premium volume of approximately $144 million as of September 30, 2006 and more than 290 appointed agencies, Colorado Casualty recently expanded its personal lines business, now offering its products and services through appointed agents in Arizona and Nevada. Since 2003, Colorado Casualty’s personal lines premium volume has increased by nearly 45 percent.
“We are committed to being a top player in personal lines and giving our agents a competitive advantage is central to that plan. Through technology upgrades and training initiatives, we’ve made great strides in providing ease of doing business for our agents and this will enhance the pace of our growth,” added Frette.
Barbara D. Fidler, Executive Vice President, Professional Independent Insurance Agents of Colorado (PIIAC) applauded Colorado Casualty for its commitment to its agents and support of the Trusted Choice? brand. “Colorado Casualty has remained steadfast in its support of the American agency system and independent agents for 25 years. Colorado agents are fortunate beneficiaries of Colorado Casualty’s dedication and commitment to the insurance industry and to the customers it serves. It is indeed a plus to have a company of this caliber right here in our own backyard.”
Colorado Casualty is also increasing its small-to-medium commercial account appetite in the areas of hotel/motel, landscaping, mobile home parks, churches, and grocery/convenience stores. Commercial lines growth also includes Colorado Casualty’s farm and agriculture coverage, which represents more than 10 percent of its overall business. This year the company is introducing specialty winery and vineyard coverage that provides its customers a package of commercial, personal, farm, and excess liability coverages in one customized policy.
